Experience Sharing of Humanitarian Aid Workers and Victims of Humanitarian Crisis: Share Humanity

State of the Repuclic of Turkey has conducted several humanitarian activities in both national and international crisis for many years. Especially after the estahlishing of AFAD in 2009, all humanitarian aid activities are carried out much more coordinately.
Van Earthquake and Syrian Crisis samples will be transferred in terms of creating a sample of these national and international humanitarian aid activities of our country
As it’s known, on October 23, 2011, an earthquake occured which 601 of our citizens lost their lives in the province of Van. After this earthquake, humanitarian aid efforts were initiated with public institutions, NGO’s and universities rapidly and primarily for relatives of losses and the population affected by earthquake.
Same year in April, as a result of population movements due to internal turmoil in Syria, millions of Syrians came to our country, taken under temporary protection and still located in Turkey. For Syrians under temporary protection, humanitarian aid activities have been carried out and they are still ongoing by public institutions and NGO’s. In this framework the following goal and objectives will try to be reached throughout the experience sharing by speakers in the side event;
Looking through the point of view of workers and victims to humanitarian aid activities conducted by Turkey is essential for observing the needs and fields.
While activities conducted by our country will being shared with participants at the side event, the appearance of the strengths and limitations will be provided for future studies.
